At Scriva's Dance Studio, we believe that everyone can dance! Our studio offers a fun and supportive environment for dancers of all levels. We offer a variety of classes, from ballet to hip hop, so you're sure to find something that interests you.
Founder and Director of the studio, Gena was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area studying under the direction of Andrea and Maurice Sebatier. Gena turned professional at age 15 with a principal role in "Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" starring Sonny Bono (singer, songwriter, and actor), and then appeared in 17 magazine with Mr. Bono. Gena then moved to NYC and 6 days short days later landed the principal role of "Dawn" on the broadway national tour of "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." Gena has appeared in such shows as "Sweet Charity", "Li'l Abner",and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" to mention a few. She has appeared in over 20 national commercials as well as Ryan Hope and CBS movies of the week. After moving to LA Gena married her husband, a film producer and began producing films with him. She then welcomed her daughter Ava Esposito who proudly follows in her footsteps with dancing and performing in NYC.
Gena welcomes her 22nd year of having her studio using her experiences, accomplishments and passion for this art form to allow her students to reach their personal best.
Proud daughter of studio owner Gena Scriva Esposito. She grew up competing for Scriva’s Dance Studio until attending Point Park University on a full dance scholarship. Other than choreographing for dance studios around Pittsburgh some recent credits include Dance Captain for Broadway Cares “I Put A Spell On You”, Principal for Quickbooks Commercial featuring Saquon Barkley, Dancer for Broadway’s Nick Rashad Burroughs music video “Gym Crush”, Featured Dancer in “Jesus Christ Superstar", Featured Dancer in “Pippin" directed by Stephen Sposito and Dancer in Tyce Diorio’s piece titled “Chaplin Then & Now”.
Alexa started dancing at the age of 2 at Rosalene Kenneth Dance Studio studying under Rosalene Kenneth, and Rachelle Rak. She competed for over 18 years, winning numerous regional and national top scores. She finished her competitive studio years at Carpelz Center For The Arts studying under Heather Goelz and Penny Goelz, where she was a member of their youth company “Visionz In Motion”, which performed at Art All Night and Beauty & Bravery a charity fashion show event.
Alexa graduated class of 2015 as a dance major from Pittsburgh’s Creative and Performing Arts High School; CAPA, under the direction of Leslie Anderson Braswell, Kevin Maloney, Amy Pickett-Smith, and Daniel Karasik. During high school she was given multiple opportunities to expand her dance knowledge with semester master classes from Attack Theater, Alvin Ailey, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Kelly Strayhorn Theater and local performing arts colleges. After high school she went on to obtain her BA in Psychology from Duquesne University, where she was chosen to be a member of the Nationally Ranked NDA Division 1 Jazz Dukettes Dance Team. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, acrobat, pointe, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical and is now a competitive judge with Rising Star Talent Productions, teacher/choreographer and has the pleasure of being on staff at reputable studios around Pittsburgh where her students have shined by winning overalls and titles. Alexa is excited to join the Scriva faculty and continue to share her love of dance.
Kinsey is honored to be apart of the Scriva’s dance family. Kinsey is currently a professional dancer with Texture Contemporary Ballet. Most recently, Kinsey danced with Confluence Ballet Company from 2021-2024, initially as an apprentice before her promotion to company artist in 2022. Some of her favorite roles included Carabosse in A Villain Redeemed, Dew Drop in Nutcracker for a Difference and Soloist in Kassi Tiedjens’ Gaia. Previously, Kinsey trained with Louisville Ballet from 2017-2021, the first two seasons as a trainee and the final two seasons as a studio company member. She had the pleasure of performing in the corps de ballet with the main company in most of their productions including favorites such as Alun Jone’s Cinderella, Ronald Hynd’s The Merry Widow, Val Caniparoli's The Nutcracker, and Robert Curran’s Giselle. Kinsey began her dance training at the age of 6 in Bakersfield, CA. From ages 12-15, she continued her training in Allen, TX before moving to Olympia, WA to train at Studio West Dance Academy under the direction of Stephanie Wood Ennett and Mariana Ramsour. Additional training included summer programs with San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Ballet Arizona, and Oklahoma City Ballet. She also attended the University of Utah on a ballet scholarship for one year before leaving to train in the pre-professional programs at Ballet Arizona and Colorado Ballet.
